CPC Grant: We recently received a $6,500 grant from the Maine Community Foundation to hire a planning consultant for The Three Community Transportation Committee, which was organized and is coordinated by the CPC. Upcoming meetings:

Monday August 11th, 2014: Board of Selectmen's meeting, 7pm at the Mount Vernon Town Offices. The Selectmen meet every other Monday. Click here to see the agenda for the next meeting.

Tuesday August 5th, 2014: Planning Board meeting, 7pm at the Mount Vernon Community Center - site plan review for FD radio tower. The Planning Board meets the 3rd Tuesday of every month.

Community Center Events
*August 3 Sunday 5 pm Music on Minnehonk - Picnic in the park (beach) while listening to Stan Keach and friends. Donations requested for the band. This is a rain or shine event - If inclement weather it will be held in the Community Center.

*International dinner on Saturday August, 19 at 5:30: ($8, $3 children 5 and under.)

Bearnstow offers free dance classes to the community at the Center every Wednesday evening through August 22. There are upcoming dance performances at Bearnstow (Friday evenings) and at the Union Hall in Vienna (August 2 and 29), as well as a special performance by guitarist, singer, and songwriter Gary Wittner (August 16). Senior Center/Cafe:
Every Monday and Wednesday at the Maranacook Middle School Cafeteria, from 9am to 11am.Tea, coffee, muffins, games/cards, and presentations provided. Bring your knitting, crafts, books, writing, instruments, and friends! Questions? Ideas? Need Transportation? Contact Rebecca Dorr, Project Coordinator at 207 685 7337, for more information.
