Town Meeting - 2002

Mount Vernon uses "Town Meeting" form of government in which Officials and Board Members are elected by secret ballot and Committee Members are appointed by the Selectmen. At the annual Town Meeting budgetary items and changes are voted on by the residents of the town.

The people of Mount Vernon elect three Selectmen who have the responsibility for the overall management of the town. Selectmen are elected for a (staggered) three year term without term limits. They choose their own chairperson.

Business is conducted during public Selectmen's Meetings every other Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.

To be put on the agenda at a Selectmen's Meeting, call the Town Office at 207-293-2379
